The Rising Orb River

Béziers in Occitanie sits atop a hill overlooking the magnificent Orb River flowing down from the mountains. Historic floods have caused the Orb to overflows its banks near landmarks like the Vieux Pont during early autumn due to rapid surges caused by épisodes cévenols—intense Mediterranean storms that dump months of rain in just a few hours. I lived there during one deluge and was inspired to create this painting.
